‘The Piles High Club’ Album is out NOW!
“If Orgone and The Meters had a baby and moved to Ireland... or perhaps if Booker T. & the M.G.'s
collided with members of the Grateful Dead late one night in New Orleans... either way, you'd end
up somewhere close to Chief Keegan.”
Founded by Luke Dunford and Mark Dudley, Chief Keegan emerged from Dublin with a distinctive
blend of groove, funk, jazz, and jam-band energy. Their debut album, The Piles High Club, released
in early 2024, earned widespread acclaim for its infectious hooks, deep-pocket rhythms, and
masterful musicianship.
The band quickly established itself as one of Ireland’s most exciting live acts, touring relentlessly
across the country and bringing its trademark “feel-good music” to audiences at major festivals
including Electric Picnic, Cork Jazz Festival, Bray Jazz Festival, Doolin Folk Festival, Derry Jazz
Festival, and Summer Nights Festival.
Never content to stand still, Chief Keegan has also released three acclaimed EPs that attracted
attention from an impressive list of international musicians, including Eddie Roberts, Eddie
Barbash, Big Sam Williams, Scott Amendola, Joe Marcinek, Funkwrench Blues, The Haggis Horns,
and Ron Holloway, all of whom have contributed their own sonic flavour to various Chief Keegan
recordings.
While many are still surprised that a small island like Ireland could produce such a deep, groove-
driven instrumental outfit, Chief Keegan is only getting started. With albums two and three already
recorded, the band is preparing to release a new wave of singles starting in the summer of 2026 as
they continue their ascent onto the international stage.
